* Road
Trip to the Soka University of America, Aliso
Viejo
(Silicon
Valley Region Student Division)
The South Bay students organized
a road trip to SUA during the first weekend
of April and attended the annual Student Day, the largest single yearly
event run by the SUA students. Initiated by the first class SUA students
in the year of 2002, students this year continued the tradition and brought
the festival to a higher level in term of scale and professional standard.

Think of a school that you
know really well every of all the 300 students, or think of a student division
FNCC that last throughout your college life. This is SUA.
Since the beginning of the
school year, students voluntarily got involved into one of the five groups,
each responsible for a presentation that last for half and hour. There
were
no involvement of faculties. Topics included global citizenship, environmental
conservation, war and peace etc. The presentations were a mixed of a variety
of performances. There were skits, movies, animations, powerpoint presentations.
There were chorus and individual performances, all combined with latest
multi-media and information technology. This also reflected the wide range
of talents that the SUA students possess. Performances were full of humor
while sensational and was informative and educational.

It was simply a perfect mix
of a SGI youth division meeting and a college project, with spirit of Buddhism
naturally embraced in normal school work. The initiative to take action,
the broad range of talents, while unison in spirit mark the uniqueness
of SUA students.
